In 1961, a meteorologist was working on a weather prediction problem using a computer that modeled the weather on 12 basic equations. Once he tried to see the weather sequence by starting out in the middle rather than the beginning. The sequence evolved differently because he had entered only 3 decimal places rather than the normal 6, causing a divergence. What was this effect later called and what did it give rise to????
